What is Whiplash?

Whiplash is a traumatic injury to the neck and head. It is a result from a sudden whipping movement of the neck and head, forward and backward, or side to side. This is also known as Cervical Acceleration – Deceleration (CAD).

CAD puts extreme tension and compression on various structures in the neck and back, which can produce internal damage to the tissues. More than half of whiplash victims will continue to suffer with pain, loss of motion, and sometimes even depression for years after the injury regardless of how fast or slow the car crash was.

Most whiplash victims suffer from pain, stiffness, and muscular tension in their neck resulting in the inability to relax. Getting the proper treatment after a car accident right away is important in helping you get back to normal.

Car Crashes may cause a Variety of Conditions including:

Accidents under 10 mph, where your are rear-ended, can be more damaging to passengers because the impact may be absorbed by the victims, rather than the car.

Seat belts do save lives. Fatalities are 5 times more common in unrestrained passengers than those who were wearing their safety harness, yet those who have a seat belt on are more likely to suffer whiplash and neck pain from a car crash.

Being aware of an approaching collision reduces your chance of injury significantly. In rear-end car crashes, those who never saw it coming are 15 times more likely to end up with chronic neck pain.

Cervical sprain injuries are the most common form of motor vehicle accident injury and can leave victims in severe pain for months after the accident.

Ligament injuries typically take 8-12 weeks to heal on their own, and we have helped thousands of individuals get results in less time!
