No referral is necessary for injured workers with an Ohio BWC claim to see a certified Chiropractor. Dr. Larry VanSuch, an Ohio BWC doctor in Columbus, Ohio explains:
One of the more popular questions we get asked by Ohio BWC injured workers in our clinic is, “Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?” The answer is ‘no…no referral is necessary to see a chiropractor’.
You, the patient, have the right to choose which doctor as well as which type of doctor will treat you for your injury. This could be a chiropractor, a medical doctor, or perhaps even an osteopathic doctor.
Company Doctor and Emergency Room
Now many times the first doctor an Ohio BWC injured worker will see is the company doctor or the emergency room doctor. This may be required by your employer however, you can still see a chiropractor afterward.
As long as the chiropractor is a licensed Ohio BWC doctor, like the doctors here at Northtowne Chiropractic, you have the right to see one and no referral is necessary.
So the good news is as an Ohio BWC injured worker you do not need a referral to see a chiropractor and get to choose whatever doctor you like as long as they are BWC certified.
