Columbus, Ohio: Hand-held Blender..Great for Smoothies and Protein Shakes.
One of the best investments you can make while going on the Detox360 program, and really for any dietary or food-based reason, would be to get yourself a hand-held blender. This is because the days of mixing anything, small things especially, in a full-size blender where there’s lots of cleanup, are over. Plus, they are only about $20.00 and you can pick them up at places like Target stores.
The idea behind a hand-held blender is to make efficient use of your time with no drop off in blending quality. All you will need to do is simply use a cup big enough (20 oz. size or more) to hold everything you plan to mix together as the blending container.
Once everything is in the cup, just submerge the blade end below the liquid surface about an inch and hit the power buttons to mix the contents together.
When you’ve done that long enough to reach your desired blend, (which is usually no more than 20-30 seconds for most items) the only thing left to do, besides drink the contents in the cup, is to rinse the blade and plastic guard under some warm water. That’s it…no more messy cleanup of a big blending container.
You will find yourself using this item perhaps more than any other in your kitchen. These are ideal for making your smoothies as well as mixing things like your powdered protein drinks together. In all, the time involved in preparing something like that, including clean-up, is usually just 2-3 minutes. Plus, they take up very little space on your counter-tops that you may not even notice them until you need it again.
So before you start this program or any program, run out and get yourself one. You don’t have to go overboard and get the most expensive one you can buy. Again, the one’s for $20 or so will get the job done. Plus, as shown in the image above, there are other attachments like a whisper that you can switch out for other uses as well, like beating eggs.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CLEANING: as easy as it is to clean these items, please be sure to unplug it at all times while cleaning. There are at least two very good reasons for doing so:
1) Water and electricity don’t mix and in the event of an electrical short you can get shocked.
2) The blades on these are sharp enough to cut you, just like any blender. And since you may have to get your fingers on the blade to break away some of the food contents that gets stuck on them, you certainly don’t want a situation where you accidentally hit the power button. This can cause a severe cut that could require stitches.
So, please use caution when using this device. If you do, you will soon come to appreciate the extreme value of having it in your kitchen!
