What is Whiplash?
Whiplash is a traumatic injury to the neck and head. It is a result from a sudden whipping movement of the neck and head, forward and backward, or side to side. This is also known as Cervical Acceleration – Deceleration (CAD).
CAD puts extreme tension and compression on various structures in the neck and back, which can produce internal damage to the tissues. More than half of whiplash victims will continue to suffer with pain, loss of motion, and sometimes even depression for years after the injury regardless of how fast or slow the car crash was.
Most whiplash victims suffer from pain, stiffness, and muscular tension in their neck resulting in the inability to relax. Getting the proper treatment after a car accident right away is important in helping you get back to normal.
